●Updated discussion of research methods and tools in psychology and neuroscience in the introductory chapters so that students can integrate them in later chapters on specific disorders

●Increased integration of consumer-based perspectives on research and treatment, and critical evaluation of pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment effects throughout disorder-specific chapters
●Revised Instructor Resources, including Lecture Presentation slides, a Test Bank, and other, lower-stakes assessment questions in formats for both pen-and-paper and online use, and an updated Instructor's Manual with Lecture Launchers, Discussion Stimulators, handouts, demonstrations and activities, and an annotated list of Web Resources for each chapter

●Emphasizes the ways we can eliminate the stigma that is unfortunately still associated with psychological disorders and present a positive and hopeful view on the causes and treatments of mental illness
●Features in-depth Focus on Discovery discussions of selected topics that allow readers to explore specialized topics without detracting from the flow of the main chapter
●Contains abundant Clinical Cases that provide a clinical context for the theories and research discussed and illustrate the real-life implications of the empirical work of psychopathologists and clinicians
●Highlights selected books on the topics covered in the chapters, including first-person accounts of experiencing psychological disorders
