Pedro Pereyra is Distinguished Professor at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), campus Azcapotzalco. Born in Bolivia, he obtained his B.Sc. from UMSA in La Paz, Bolivia, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from UNAM, Mexico. He completed a post-doctorate at the Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg. Since 1987, he has been Member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI). He has been awarded the UAM Research Prize three times (1994, 2001, 2003). He has also been Associate and Senior Associate of the ICTP in Trieste, Italy, and Visiting Professor at Ohio University, Universidad de la Habana, and the University of Regensburg.

Prof. Pereyra's main contributions to physics include the DMPK equation and the multichannel theory of finite periodic systems.

Prof. Pereyra has published around 100 papers and is Author of the book Fundamentals of Quantum Physics (2012, Springer).
