Dr. Matthias Ripp is a senior heritage manager and World Heritage site manager of the "Old Town of Regensburg with Stadtamhof," where he oversees strategic management, project development, and integrated heritage policies. He holds a PhD in heritage studies, focusing on heritage-led urban development and adaptive governance models that link heritage, sustainability, and local communities. Trained as a historical geographer, he serves as Regional Coordinator for the North-West Europe Region of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) and is an active ICOMOS member in several international expert and advisory networks.
As an International Adjunct Professor at Woxsen University, Hyderabad, he contributes to teaching and capacity-building on sustainable and resilient urban development. His research and practice are grounded in an understanding of heritage as a **system**, emphasizing interdependencies between cultural, social, economic, and environmental dimensions. He advocates that people and their everyday lives must be at the center of heritage management, ensuring benefits for local communities.
Sushobhan Majumdar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Smriti Mahavidyalaya, affiliated with Bankura University, India. He is an Applied Geographer who holds a Doctorate in Geography from the Department of Geography, Jadavpur University, Kolkata and a Post Graduate degree from Presidency University, Kolkata. He has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Remote Sensing and GIS from Jadavpur University. He has over 13 years of experience in both academic research and professional practice. His main areas of specialization include urban geography, social geography, regional development and planning, remote sensing and GIS, spatial intelligence and the geography of transport. He is currently serving as a Reviewing Editor and Book Reviewer in Springer. He is now editor and reviewer of various renowned publishing houses like Springer, Elsevier, Royal Society of Chemistry, CRC Press, AAP Press, Wiley Scrivener, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Frontiers. He is presently the Co-Principal Investigator of a major research project supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Dr. Majumdar has edited more than 18 books with internationally reputed publishing houses. He has more than 50 research papers published in various reputable journals and more than 95 book chapters in the edited volumes. He has presented papers at over 35 national and international seminars and conferences across India and abroad. Additionally, he has delivered invited lectures and special talks in a range of national and regional academic programs. Dr. Majumdar is an active member of several academic organizations like Geographical Society of India, Regional Science Association of India (RSAI), Institute of Indian Geographers (IIG), and National Association of Geographers of India (NAGI).
Dr Claire Cave is a lecturer at University College Dublin (UCD) and coordinator of the interdisciplinary World Heritage Management programme. With a PhD in Zoology and a background in conservation biology, her work bridges natural and cultural heritage, with particular interests in participatory approaches to heritage management, the interlinkages between nature and culture, and the implementation of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention.
She is a member of the World Heritage Technical Advisory Group to the Irish government and contributes to national and international heritage capacity-building and training initiatives. Dr Cave has co-edited publications on World Heritage policy and practice and is a member of ICOMOS, the EUROPARC Federation and the Association of Critical Heritage Studies.
