Chuanlian Xiao is a physical chemist in the Department of Physical Chemistry of Solids, led by Prof. Dr. Joachim Maier at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany. He earned his M.Sc. in Materials Science with the highest honor (very good with distinction) and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry with the highest distinction (summa cum laude) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Joachim Maier in Stuttgart. Prior to that, he obtained his bachelor's degree from Xiamen University (distinguished graduate) in China. His research is devoted to physical chemistry of ionic materials (Electrochemistry, Solid State Ionics, and Nanoionics), which refers to the equilibrium and non-equilibrium thermodynamics of charge carriers in solids, as well as the chemical kinetics of solid-state processes. His primary interest lies in interfacial effects in solids, particularly in the context of charge storage and transport.
