Zhiyong Chen received his B.Eng. degree in Automatic Control from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2000. He then earned his M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical and Automation Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002 and 2005, respectively. From 2005 to 2006, he was a Research Associate at the University of Virginia. In 2006, he joined the University of Newcastle, Australia, where he is currently a Professor. He was also an honorary Changjiang Chair Professor at Central South University, China. His research primarily focuses on nonlinear control theory and its applications. He has published a textbook titled "Stabilization and Regulation of Nonlinear Systems," over 180 journal papers, and more than 100 conference papers. He has also served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Automatica, and several other prestigious journals.

陳志勇於2000年獲得中國科學技術大學自動控制工程學士學位。隨後，他於2002年和2005年分別在香港中文大學獲得機械與自動化工程的碩士及博士學位。從2005年到2006年，他在維吉尼亞大學擔任研究助理。2006年，他加入澳大利亞紐卡索大學，目前擔任教授。他同時也是中國中南大學的榮譽長江講座教授。他的研究主要集中在非線性控制理論及其應用上。他出版了一本名為《非線性系統的穩定與調節》的教科書，發表了超過180篇期刊論文和100多篇會議論文。他還擔任《IEEE自動控制學報》、《Automatica》及其他幾本知名期刊的副編輯。
