Joseph Strayhorn, Jr. M.D. is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. He is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School, a psychiatry residency at Duke Medical Center, and a child psychiatry fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. He has been a faculty member at Duke, University of Pittsburgh, Drexel University College of Medicine, and Upstate Medical University. He is the founder and director of the Organization for Psychoeducational Tutoring, which delivers psychoeducation to children. He is the author of a general textbook of psychiatry and journal articles on topics including lead toxicity, methods of teaching self-discipline, media influences, classification of mental health skills, and others. He has made available over 20 full-length psychoeducational manuals and numerous handouts at no cost at josephstrayhornmd.com.

Kay Yu Yuan Chai, Ph.D., completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Washington, Seattle, and her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Duquesne University. She completed her predoctoral internship at Hutchings Psychiatric Center. She is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse NY, where she teaches and supervises psychology interns, and is the Adult Psychologist for the Mental Health for Trauma and Burn team that conducts brief interventions with patients to reduce the risk of emotional difficulties following a trauma or burn. She also has a part time generalist private practice.

Yanli Zhang-James, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Trained as both a physician and neuroscientist, Dr. Zhang-James leads interdisciplinary projects aimed at advancing our understanding of neuropsychiatric disorders and human behavior. Her recent work focuses on the complex interplay between mental and physical health, with a strong commitment to translating research findings into practical tools for psychoeducation and clinical decision-making. She also mentors medical students and residents, fostering evidence-based research and education in psychiatry.
