Learn Plover!

Stenographic typewriters can reach hundreds of words per minute, and may ease some of the injuries associated with typing on regular keyboards. Stenotype has been in existence for over 100 years, but copyrights and patents have kept the cost of learning and using it very high. Plover is the brain-child of Mirabai Knight, a professional stenotypist and open source enthusiast who inspired some professional software developers to create a stenotype system for everyone. Plover relies on existing, inexpensive hardware, open source software, and a freely available stenotype dictionary unencumbered by copyright. This book offers a series of clear lessons to bring users from first contact to proficiency. It also gives links to online resources including a growing community where you can address questions, share experiences, and help design new features for the Plover software.
